On September 11 2001 at 8:45 a large commercial airliner hit Tower One at The World Trade Center. AT 9:03 a second aircraft hit Tower Two. At 10:05 and 10:30 both towers had collapsed. Our country will never be the same. The axe that I have painted is a tribute to the 343 fire and rescue personnel the perished that day.
The numbers that are painted on the handle are for each Engine Company ,Ladder Co. ,Battalion ,Division , Squad and Rescue team that lost personnel that day.
Station 343
Located at 140 E. Main St in Dwight , Il 60420
Pete and Joy Meister of Dwight Il wanted to give something back to the community they love so much as well as create a destination where people can gather and socialize. Pete, a firefighter in Cullom Il , wanted to honor the 343 brave New York City firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
Complete with a vintage 1917 Seagrave fire truck Station 343 establishes an atmosphere of a fire station with brick walls, wood floors and rafters. Pete has also collected many fire related artifacts that you will find interesting.
If you are looking for good food, a great atmosphere with friendly people plan a visit....you won't be disappointed.
A special fire axe was created and will be displayed at Station 343. It is pictured in the group photo below.
This axe was created for Station 343 and will be the door handle for the restaurant.
